*NEW Holistic Nutrition Self-Help Guides

Welcome! When it comes down to it, self-management really starts at home. Typically, a Coach can’t accompany you at home and watch/guide you throughout your day like one would at a gym for physical training sessions. You must take the resources and apply the work yourself, ungoverned. Yes, you might be able to “check-in” with someone which certainly holds a valuable place. It is a great way to start. However, the majority of what you do is on your time. One must understand their unique “why” to carry one through. Even small changes are powerful in building better habits. What is your “why”? These documents are meant to help start your journey in nourishing the body well and work towards optimizing overall general adult health & performance. It’s not about perfection, it’s about striving for excellence for ourselves. If you are favorable to self-directed learning and love to read about ways you can help yourself, this might be just for you!

Have you ever heard of the “Blue Zones”?

Blue zones are places in the world where people have been identified to live longer and healthier lives more than anywhere else on earth! Typically to around 100 years old! Most live without medication, chronic diseases, cancer, or disability.
Okinawa, Japan; Sardinia, Italy; Nicoya, Costa Rica; Ikaria, Greece; and Loma Linda, California have been identified as having the highest concentrations of centenarians in the world! Common denominator? They do not eat virtually any processed foods and they consume about 90-95% (some 100%) of mostly whole plant-based foods! On occasion, small portions of wild caught fish, and free-roaming meats, etc.

That does not mean you have to follow the above to a tee to make a positive impact on your health. One could try the 80/20 rule. 80% plants, 20% animal based. There is so much to learn to see what is right for you, and so many possibilities available to meet your individual needs. The big thing is working towards whole foods the best one can. That is where the magic is unearthed = whole foods.

*BONUS: Ever wanted to try the 75 Hard? I created what I call the Lifestyle Challenge Spring Clean/75 Health Intermediate Tier. Andy Frisella created the 75 Hard, I was inspired to cultivate some of his concepts but with my Holistic take to create this challenge. It encompasses a lot of holistic golden nuggets, tips, and ideas that anyone could apply to their life. It is a very comprehensive document. This is geared towards those that at least have a foundation in fitness & nutrition. If you’re new to this, I would still encourage you to read through the challenge, as there will absolutely be things you could learn and adopt right away! Even if one only applied a few things from this challenge (at any level), it could be helpful to help optimize your lifestyle! Like, let’s talk about sleep hygiene, coffee, and budget! Plus, I included some fun facts and products to consider! Remember, it’s not always about “all or nothing” … sometimes something is better than nothing! So relax, do what you can. Once you get that down, add more! This is part of my holistic take on the matter! Read below!

The Goal of this Lifestyle Challenge is: To optimize overall health; mind, body, & soul. There are powerful steps to improving our wellbeing by connecting, being active, taking notice, continued learning, give, breathe deeply, laugh, getting outside, sleep, and nourishing the body well. Spring Clean over the next 2.5 months encompasses some of those steps to help the body recover, improve stamina, resilience, and overall improve well-being. Everyone is always interested in diet, but the information in this doc is not a set diet per se. However, we will emphasize a large section and focus on creating a habit of including quality fiber rich whole foods with your diet rather than +/- quantity of food to help optimize health. I would be mindful that if the suggested info proves to be more physical activity than you are used to, you may want to consider your amount of food to remain the same or perhaps even a little more to ensure not to shock the body which could result in harmful outcomes. You may find by adding the suggested ideas will help balance your caloric intake organically. This is just a stepping stone above the foundation, as there are many other layers to continue to optimize one’s health above and beyond this tier. However, this might be a good start for some! This document includes a lot! It also includes ways to approach buying quality food if on a budget as well!

You deserve to feel good. It can take time and sometimes we can feel worse before we can feel better due to gut microbiome adjustments, detoxing, etc… Striving to eat “similar” to the Blue Zones by focusing mostly (doesn’t have to be entirely) on unprocessed whole plant foods is one of the best ways to move towards a healthy body. If one is not used to consuming a high fiber meal and/or snack – the body needs to adjust. You may experience bloating, cramping, excess flatulence, and irregular stools until the body (gut microbiome) becomes appropriately adjusted. Be patient with it, it is worth it! 95% of Americans are deficient in this nutrient. Fiber is essential for a healthy diet, key in toxin removal, bad cholesterol removal, lowering the risks of heart disease, diabetes, better weight management, helps to balance hormones, increase fertility, gut health, and much more! Sometimes it can take weeks to months to feel adjusted…

One may need to start smaller in their pursuit of change. It may just be starting with evolving one meal at a time. That is okay! Build upon new habits that are appropriate for you! These documents are here to help get you started in your journey of learning, as there is so much more! So be patient and take your time reading through. I have armed you with a lot of ideas, education, and thoughts to consider as you adopt what is right for you. Keep learning, don’t stop! Stive for your best!
